Pretty sure in the original RDR you could lead a horse while on your horse. On PS4, click up on d pad will short whistle and your horse comes to you, hold up for long whistle and it will follow. Unlike the first game, you can't have ahorse lassooed while riding another horse. You will automatically jump off.
Hogtie an NPC, kill their horse in front of them then blow all the legs off. Beat the dead horse some more. Loot the NPC so they know just how disrespectful I am. Kick them a few times. Throw 'em in some shallow water and let em gasp and flop around. Untie them and let them get up. Tackle them and hogtie them again.
Once the lasso has landed around the neck of the horse, you need to slowly move towards the horse, while pressing X/Square to calm it. If you're looking for more on RDR2 keep it tuned to USG
Once you have actually hooked onto something, you have to keep holding the left trigger and walk towards your target. Then you can hogtie them. If you are stationary (on foot or horseback) with a lasso attached to a target, holding both triggers will drag the target towards you.
